At May 10th’s meeting of the Mid-Prairie school board, the district filled its final principal vacancy. Superintendent Mark Schneider recommended Chuck Banks for the high school principal position and he was approved unanimously by the board. Banks received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Kansas State University in Health and Physical Education for K-12 and his Masters in PK-12 Principal and Supervisor of Education from Viterbo University in La Crosse, Wisconsin. He worked for the Eddyville and Van Buren school districts as a physical education teacher, and as a principal and high school associate principal in the Oskaloosa district. Starting salary for the position is $125,000 per year with a benefits package totaling just over $171,000. The start date for Banks is August 1st pursuant on passing the requisite background checks. Current High School Principal Jay Strickland submitted his resignation to take the same position in his hometown of Crawfordsville, Indiana.
