Three area girls’ golf teams traveled to Deerwood in New London on Monday for a first round class 1A regional and one squad saw their season continue.

Highland was able to crack the top two with an 18-hole score of 465 to beat out third place Danville with a 505. New London won the postseason meet with a 400. Three Huskies tallied a top 10 score with Charlie Aicher and Kayla Cerny placing eighth with matching 113s and Jenna Waters was in 10th with 116. Kelsi Cerny carded a 123 to round out the scoring. Head Coach Travis Riggan was ecstatic for his team. “All of our girls played extremely well with the circumstances that were today. I think the girls who have been with us for the entire season have improved so much. We are extremely excited about the opportunity to play another week and see where it takes us.”

Winfield-Mt. Union finished fifth in the team standings with a 555. Isabel Kann led them with a 123, Ava Hagge had a 136, Alli Humphreys 140, and Aurey Meeker 156. Columbus placed sixth with 630 strokes. Jobie Lekwa finished with a 118 to place 11th and Vanessa Ayala had a 129.

Highland now gears up for the regional final on Monday at Prairie Knolls in New Sharon.
