A plethora of area golfers competed at Pleasant Valley in Iowa City on Thursday for a class 1A district and the season came to a close for each individual.
Keota, Sigourney, Hillcrest Academy, and a few Winfield-Mt. Union players just missed the cutoff to advance to the state tournament. North Tama and North Cedar made it through as a team with matching 18-hole scores of 339 while Sigourney was next in line with a 356. Cade Streigle led the Savages with an 83 to place sixth overall. New London’s Clayton Phillips and HLV’s Ethan Kupka were the individual qualifiers with 74s. Other counting Savage results included Clay Morse 88, Brock Halleran 89, and Josh Mohr 96. Keota placed fourth out of nine with 358 strokes and they were led by Luke Hammen finishing 12th with an 87. Sawyer Stout shot an 89, Colten Clarahan 90, and Max Johnson 92. Hillcrest Academy placed eighth with a 391 and scores for them included Jace Rempel 90, London Schrock 91, Luke Schrock 97, and Josiah Beachy 113. Three Wolves played as individuals with Brady Loyd shooting an 89, Jacob Kongable 89, and Isaac Schurr 92.
North Tama, North Cedar, and individual qualifiers advance to next week’s state meet in Newton.
