In a battle of KCII area girls’ soccer teams it was Mid-Prairie that seized bragging rights by invading Washington and coming from behind to win 3-2.

The Demons held a 2-1 advantage with just 13 minutes left when Julia Bollers found the equalizer and 10 minutes later the junior connected again for the winning tally. Kaitlin Martin had the other goal and assisted on another. Greta Rothe and Trina Griffin had the two scores for Washington. Bollers talked with KCII postgame about the persistence of the team to keep battling when down. “We were slow and tired out of half and they were outplaying us. Something clicked with about 20 minutes left and our team really went for it. We told ourselves we were going to win this and we did.”

The Golden Hawks conclude the regular season 10-5 and now gear up for a first round class 1A regional against Columbus Community (7-3) on Wednesday. The Demons drop to 6-7 and they travel to Marion (10-4) for the first round on Friday.
