Two of the top teams in the state will be on the pitch tonight when Mid-Prairie travels to Albia for a class 1A substate semifinal match. The Hawks are ranked No. 15 in the final poll from the Iowa High School Soccer Coaches Association and have a 10-4 record after a 3-0 opening round win over Pella Christian on Thursday where they got goals from Gunnar Gingerich, Aaron Slaubaugh and Zeus Fugate. On the season, Mid-Prairie is led by Owen Trimpe with 15 goals, Ethan Trimpe with nine assists and Justice Jones with 27 saves and a 79.4% save percentage in goal.

Albia enters play with an 11-3 record. They eliminated Chariton Thursday 3-1 in the first round of the playoffs. Albia is ranked No. 8 in the final poll of the year for class 1A. For the season, the Blue Demons are led by Landon Noe with 16 goals and seven assists. Zach Lawrence has made 69 saves with an 88.5% save percentage. These teams last met in a 2014 substate final that Mid-Prairie won 5-1 in Wellman. Action starts at 6:30 tonight at Albia High School.
