It’s the home opener tonight at Dick Sojka Memorial Field for the Washington baseball team when they host Muscatine for a non-conference matchup.

The Demons opened the new campaign last night against Davenport Central and fell by the slimmest of margins with a 6-5 loss. Washington looks to build off of a 9-8 season in 2020 and Reece Mayer returns after an all-conference year where he posted a .377 BA and 17 RBI. Lucas Kroll leads a handful of returning pitchers with a 2.02 ERA in 28 innings as a sophomore. The Muskies were 5-11 last year, but started the summer with a 3-1 victory over West Liberty on Tuesday. Josh Dieckman returns after being their best hitter last year with a .457 batting average.
