A chance to play a different opponent was on the docket last night for the Highland softball team when they faced off with non-conference opponent Central City and picked up their fifth straight victory with a 12-4 final.
Scoring four runs in the third, fourth, and fifth inning was all the Huskies needed to pull away from the Wildcats in a game where they led the entire way. Mackinze Hora led the way at the plate going 3-for-4 with three runs scored and one RBI. Sarah Burton also had three knocks while Grace Batcheller and Jessica Kraus brought in a pair of tallies. Batcheller got the win in the circle tossing five innings giving up three runs on eight hits and just one walk. The Highland offense has been red-hot in their winning streak by averaging 13.6 runs a contest.
They improve to 5-1 overall and travel to face Pekin (0-2) tonight.
