It was a business trip to Thornburg Wednesday for the Sigourney baseball and softball teams as they swept Tri-County on their home field. The Savage baseball team took the contest 11-0, scoring two runs in each of the first and second innings, another in the fifth and putting up a six spot in the sixth inning and ending the game a frame early. The Savages are now 3-1 on the season.
The Sigourney softball team was a 10-0 winner. The Savages scored two in the first, one in the second, one more in the fourth and had a big six run fifth to end the game early. The Savages pounded out 13 total hits led by Carly Goodwin’s four for four night with two doubles and two RBI. Goodwin also threw a shortened no hitter in the circle, striking out 11 and walking only two. The No. 5 ranked Savages are now 3-2 on the year.
