It was a classic pitchers dual Monday in North English with the No. 5 ranked Sigourney softball team taking a 2-0 South Iowa Cedar League win over the Bears on their home field. Things were scoreless until the fourth when the Savages scratched across two runs, that was the only thing allowed by both starters who went the distance. Carly Goodwin was sensational in the circle, throwing a three hit complete game shut out, striking out 16 and walking only one. EV’s Hannah Marsh gave up five hits, two runs and struck out six. Ava Fisch led the Savages offensively with a pair of hits Macy Fisch and Amiya Smallwood each had an RBI. With the win, Sigourney is 6-3 on the year, EV falls to 3-5.
