The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk baseball and softball teams hit the road for West Branch Monday. The Golden Hawk baseball team is 8-2 on the year after an 18-8 win at Mt. Pleasant Friday where they led 14-0 after two innings and were led by four RBI nights each from Aidan Rath and Kayden Reinier. Mid-Prairie is ranked No. 8 in this week’s class 2A poll from the Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association. For the year, the Hawks are hitting .366, fourth best in class 2A. They have a team ERA of 4.28. Individually, they are led by Rath, hitting .484 with 18 RBI and six homers, most in the state. On the mound, Alex Bean and Rath are both 2-0. Cain Brown is also unbeaten at 1-0. Brown has a 1.31ERA while Rath is at 0.54.

West Branch is 1-9 on the year. They lost to Washington Friday 8-7. On the year they are hitting .283 as a team with an ERA of 6.34. Individually, they are led by Lucas Pierce at .424 with 14 hits, 11 RBI and one homer. Pierce is also the leader on the mound with a 1-0 record in 21 innings and a 0.67 ERA. The Hawks have won 10 of the last 13 games in the series including 12-2 and 9-1 wins last year.

The Mid-Prairie softball team is 3-13 on the year after splitting two games at the Eddyville-Blakesburg Tournament, falling to Prairie City Monroe 10-4 and beating Centerville 13-4. On the year, the Golden Hawks are hitting .321 as a team with an overall ERA of 8.02. Individually, they are led by Madeline Schrader at the plate at .448 with 13 hits, two homers and six RBI. Myah Lugar is the leader in the circle with a 2-8 record across 65 innings and a 7.04ERA. West Branch is 8-8 on the year. The Bears were beaten twice over the weekend at the Davenport West Invitational by Davenport North and Davenport West. On the season, the Bears are hitting .327 as a team and have an overall ERA of 4.51. Individually, West Branch is led by Nicki Henson with a .608 average with 31 hits. In the circle Hannah Schiele is 6-4 in 50 innings with a 4.01 ERA. Mid-Prairie has won four of the last six in the series, but the Bears have won the last two, including a 9-1 victory last season.
