The Mid-Prairie softball team will try to bounce back from a tough Monday when they travel to Mount Pleasant Tuesday for non-conference action. The Hawks dropped both ends of a doubleheader in walk-off fashion at West Branch by 4-3 and 14-13 scores. For the season, Mid-Prairie as a team is hitting .339 as a team with a 7.80 ERA. Individually they are led by Myah Lugar at .439 with 25 total hits and nine driven in. She also is the leader in the circle with a 3-10 record in 88 innings with a 7.48 ERA. Mount Pleasant is 0-17 this year. The Panthers were swept by Fort Madison Monday 14-4 and 13-1. On the year the Panthers are hitting .192 as a team with a 14.74 ERA. Savanna Walls is the individual leader with a .405 average on 15 hits. Madison Helling is the leader in the circle with an 0-9 record in 37 innings with a 12.49 ERA. Despite dropping four of their last five games, Mid-Prairie head coach Matt Hoeppner talked about his team’s resiliency and what he likes about their recent play. “We have to put both sides together with the offense and defense more often. It’s there. We are in games with good teams. The wins are going to come for these guys. We need to attack it the same way Tuesday. On Monday, we shut West Branch down most of the game aside from our own errors. We need to keep that same mentality and see if we can’t snag one Tuesday.”
This is the first all-time meeting between the two schools. You can hear all of the action live on AM 1380, FM 102.5 and KCIIradio.com tonight, beginning with the Washington HyVee pregame show at 6:30 and the Premier Shed Shop and Champion Metal Supply first pitch at 7p.m. from the Mapleleaf Athletic Complex in Mt. Pleasant.
