Get ready for fun in Brighton as the annual Whoopee Days Celebration is set to get underway. Four days of activities have been scheduled for the 2021 event with the first activities kicking off on Thursday. This year’s schedule of events includes Thursday’s Bill Riley Talent Show at 7 p.m. dedicated to Nancy Adrian, Friday’s saddle club show and street dance, Saturday’s Lion’s Club pancake breakfast at the community center, Ding Darling tractor ride, Whoopee Day parade, mud run, cemetery walk and street dance, and Sunday’s community church service in the park and horse shoe tournament. Jan Miller with the Brighton Chamber of Commerce spoke with KCII News about organizing this year’s event. “It takes a couple of months for everything to come together. It takes a good strong group of people to come together and do this. We’re all new on the Chamber this year, and we have teamed up with the Lions. We have a great team. You know it’s about traditions. That’s what we have focused on this year and selected as our theme, traditions of a small town.”
This is a stop on the KCII Big Red Radio Summer Town Tour. The Big Red Radio will be in Brighton from 7:30 to noon on Saturday playing music and making announcements. A full schedule of events for Brighton Whoopee Days is available at KCIIradio.com and the Brighton Chamber of Commerce Facebook page.
