A pitcher’s duel broke out in Winfield on Friday with the home Wolves picking up another softball win by edging Holy Trinity 2-1 in a Southeast Iowa Super Conference cross over matchup.

Per usual, Madie Anderson practically gave her defense the night off with 18 of the 21 outs going down by strikeout. The senior tossed a complete game giving up one run, one hit, no walks, and doing it all in just 74 pitches. She was recognized for recently eclipsing 1,000 strikeouts throughout her illustrious five year career and now sits at 1,028. Despite recording just two runs, the Wolves’ offense managed 10 hits from eight different batters led by Carlee Sloan and Anna Anderson each with a pair of knocks. Anna Anderson and Kayreanna Sharar finished with one RBI and Sloan was plated twice.

WMU improves to 13-3 overall and travels to Wapello tonight.
