
It was a cross over Southeast Iowa Super Conference matchup for the Lone Tree softball and baseball team on Monday hosting West Burlington with the Falcons spoiling the home festivities.
The baseball game was 4-1 Falcons (9-8) heading into the final inning when they added four more to finish with an 8-1 victory. Lone Tree had four hits led by Tyler Bell with a pair of singles. The junior tossed 3 1/3 innings giving up three runs (two earned), one hit, and walking six. The Lions fall to 7-9 overall.
The softball squad ran into a buzzsaw that is the Falcons (24-2) and lost in five frames by a 10-0 score. Ellen Carow had two of the team’s four hits while Arlie Lorack gave up 10 runs in the circle (seven earned), nine hits, and struck out two. Lone Tree is now 8-12.
