Washington County motorists should be aware of secondary bridge and culvert work being done over the next few weeks.

The Washington County Engineer’s Office has contracted URETEK USA, Inc. of Tomball, Texas to complete some rehabilitation work on the approaches at the West Fork Crooked Creek Bridge on Coppock Road and the English River Bridge on Vine Avenue, as well as culverts on Wayland Road south of Bethel Mennonite Church and on Hemlock south of 230th Street. The contractor will be doing work to stabilize the fill under the pavement at these structures and then lift the pavement at these locations to improve the ride for the traveling public.

Work is scheduled to begin at the bridge on Coppock Road today and then is expected to follow with the locations on Wayland Road, Vine Avenue, and Hemlock Avenue in that order. The contractor is expected to complete the repairs on July 16th, weather permitting. During the work roads will be down to one lane with the use of temporary traffic lights or a self-alternating traffic setup if appropriate visibility is available. The public is encouraged to use caution and safe driving practices in the work zones. Questions can be directed to the county engineer’s office at 319-653-7731.
