The Wilson Memorial Public Library in Keota is in the process of applying for a $5,000 grant for a story trail project.

Starting in Keota, spanning east, the Kewash Nature Trail would serve as a permanent story location. Pedestals would be installed along the path for people to stop and read. The library would be able to switch out stories anytime for new reading content. Washington County Conservation Executive Director Zach Rozmus says this could benefit both the library and conservation board, “On occasion we, the conservation board, could actually go out there and put up some information on programs or events going on. So I think it’s one of those projects that we’re both going to benefit from.”

The conservation board is endorsing the library’s application to the State Library of Iowa for American Rescue Plan funds.
