It is take two for the Demon and Golden Hawk softball teams tonight when area bragging rights will be settled in Washington during a non-conference doubleheader.
These teams were supposed to meet up last week when Mother Nature did her thing and forced a rescheduled date. The Demons are coming off of a doubleheader sweep of Keokuk on Monday by outscoring their opponent 21-1 and they now sit at 16-14 overall. A keen eye at the plate has been a strength, as their 162 walks ranks second in the state and on Monday they registered 11 free passes in the nightcap. Mid-Prairie is 9-26 and last night split with Regina by losing game one 10-1, but bouncing back in a big way with a 12-2 win in game two. The offense is starting to turn a corner by averaging eight runs in their last four games. Washington won both meetings back in 2019, but both schools have split the last 12 matchups dating back to 2009.
Game one gets started at 5:30 p.m. from Washington High School and listen to all of the action on AM 1380 FM 102.5 FM 106.1 KCII.
