2021 came to a close on Tuesday for the Columbus Wildcat softball team as they were beaten 12-1 in five innings by No. 4 West Burlington in the first round of the class 3A playoffs. The Falcons scored four in the first, six in the second and two in the fourth. Columbus got their one run in the fourth inning. Libby White had the lone Columbus hit and RBI as she drove in Lily Coil. Lauren Summer recorded the win in the circle for West Burlington, in five innings giving up one hit, one run and striking out nine. Coil threw three innings for Columbus allowing 12 runs, seven hits, walking four and striking out three. The Wildcats end their year at 10-16 and say goodbye to six seniors including Jobie Lekwa, Kylee Wheeler, Emma Milder, Lela Fort, Julie Sosa, and Michelle Diaz.
