It was a tale of two games on Monday when the Washington baseball team hosted Mount Pleasant for the final Southeast Conference doubleheader of the season and the Demons split the twin bill.
The orange and black took advantage of Panther (6-21) errors and free passes in the opener and pulled away for a 15-3 mercy rule win in six innings. Throwing strikes turned into Washington’s issue in the nightcap, as they walked 12 batters and lost 10-0 in five frames.
The Demons are now 15-10 and closed SEC play in third place with a 10-9 league mark. They host Oskaloosa (5-21) tonight before traveling to Clear Creek-Amana (15-13) tomorrow. The class 3A district pairings were released yesterday with the four-seeded Demons set to host the five-seeded Clippers on Friday, July 16th.
