The Washington County Board of Supervisors approved an agreement for a state grant to fund a shoulder paving project on Wayland Road.
County Engineer Jacob Thorius presented the agreement at Tuesday’s meeting for $245,000 they’ve received through the state’s Traffic Safety Improvement Program. The county learned this past December that they received the grant for the southern two-mile section of County Road W55 to add paved shoulders with a safety edge and edge line rumble strips. Thorius says this grant will cover a portion of the costs for the work that’s expected to be completed in the next two years. In addition to this work Thorius says he plans to present an agreement to the supervisors in the next few weeks to pave the driveways to the right-of-way line at the Eichelberger feed mill that is located on the two-mile stretch of Wayland Road.
