Washington Mayor Jaron Rosien recently proclaimed July as Independent Retail & Small Business Month, and with that Main Street Washington is encouraging the public to spend locally with the Shop Small Crawl open house weekend.

Main Street Washington Director Sarah Grunewaldt says during this Thursday through Saturday local businesses will be offering special deals, treats and more, “Basically it’s just an opportunity for them to really showcase what makes small businesses special. We are celebrating it in July because it is Independent Retail and Small Business Month. And so we want to really highlight how important small businesses are to our community as a large part of our economy.”

Grunewaldt’s proud that despite the COVID-19 pandemic Washington hasn’t lost any businesses, and on the contrary, even more residents have been inspired to start up their own at-home or brick-and-mortar establishments in the last year.
