The Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association has released their final class 2A poll for the 2021 season. Mid-Prairie has moved up three spots in this week’s poll from 7th to 4th. The Golden Hawks closed out the regular season with a split against Iowa City Regina, moving their record to 17-7 on the year. They finished 14-4, champions of the South Division of the River Valley Conference. The Golden Hawks are hitting .351 as a team, best in Iowa in class 2A. They have a team ERA of 3.84.

Individually at the plate they are led by Aidan Rath, hitting an even .500 on the season with a state leading 12 home runs. He has totaled 38 RBI, 8th most in 2A, 39 total hits and scored 34 runs. Freshman Karson Grout is also hitting above .400 at .447 with 38 hits, 31 RBI and 28 runs scored. On the mound, Aidan Rath and Keegan Gingerich are both 4-1. Rath has thrown 35 innings with a 1.11 ERA, Gingerich 22 innings with a 4.94 ERA. Alex Bean is 3-0 at 3.61 and Grout 2-1 in 22 innings with a 4.01 mark. Other teams joining Mid-Prairie in the rankings this week include No. 1 Roland-Story, No. 2 Van Meter, No. 3 Panorama, No. 5 Des Moines Christian, No. 6 Underwood, No. 7 Estherville-Lincoln Central, No. 8 Jesup, No. 9 Dike-New Hartford and No. 10 Dyersville Beckman.

The Golden Hawks open the playoffs at Paul N. Bailey Field in Wellman Tuesday against either West Burlington or Iowa City Regina.
