Mother Nature did her thing on Saturday and pushed back the start of the postseason for a lot of baseball teams in Southeast Iowa. Those games will be made up today and will feature a lot of area squads in class 1A quarterfinal matchups. 

Keota (15-7) will open play in New London against Danville (5-13) in district 9 with a 5 p.m. first pitch. In the bottom half of the bracket an area matchup will take place in Sigourney when the Savages (17-5) play host to Winfield-Mt. Union (2-22) at 7 p.m. Highland (14-8) will enjoy home cooking against North Cedar (1-19) and Hillcrest Academy (10-8) will be in Riverside to face English Valleys (6-14). Hillcrest’s game is set for 5 p.m. with the Huskies to follow. 

Winners of today’s games will have a quick turnaround and play tomorrow in the district semifinal.
