The Sigourney softball team recently learned their path to a state title when the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union released the state pairings for next week’s tournament in Fort Dodge.

The Savages (25-8) are slated as the #5 seed in class 1A and will be the road team against #4 Southeast Warren (28-2) on Monday. The quarterfinal round is set to begin at 11:30 a.m. on Iowa Central Field at the Harlan Rogers Sports Complex. If the black and gold win, they are guaranteed two more games with the semifinal on Wednesday and the championship/third and fourth place match on Thursday. If Sigourney loses the first round, they will play one consolation game on Tuesday. The second game will be against either #1 Newell-Fonda (35-4) or #8 North Butler (20-5). The bottom half of the bracket features #2 Wayne (23-4) against #7 Remsen St. Mary’s (21-4) and #3 Lisbon (35-8) faces #6 Clarksville (23-4). Fans wishing to attend can purchase tickets on varsity bound through the IGHSAU website or at the gate in Fort Dodge.
