An update on facility projects was given at the most recent Washington Community School Board meeting.
Superintendent Willie Stone stated that the north parking lot at Stewart Elementary has been poured and they are waiting to do touch ups and paint lines. The contractor is now moving on to reconfigure the south parking lots to add more spaces. Stone said he has received several comments asking why the north parking lot isn’t closer to the school building, and he explained that he is anticipating when the high school sales tax revenue bond runs off in 2030 the district will issue another one to add a multipurpose room in that space as well as at Lincoln Elementary. Indoor work has progressed for the Lincoln HVAC project, though the contractors could use drier conditions for the next couple weeks in order to do the outside work. The new playground equipment has been constructed, but they are waiting to pour the rubber pad. Metal studs are almost in for the walls for the south rise room office renovation at Lincoln, and they are waiting for wiring and heating schematics before work moves further. Tuck pointers are also working on the west side of the building and will move back to the east side once everything is poured.
