Among the 4-H and FFA livestock shows happening tomorrow at the Washington County Fair, a special generational class will be held to celebrate the retirement of two longtime volunteers.

“Ewe Raised Me Right” will take place at 11 a.m. following the 4-H, FFA, and Clover Kids sheep shows, and is open to families that have had two or more generations show sheep and work with Dave Birney and Duane Sprouse. After several decades of taking part in the sheep show, Sprouse says he and Birney are excited to watch what comes out of this event, “I think it’s going to be fun to see some of these young people now that are maybe a little bit older, maybe a little bit slower than they used to be and their technique of showing, by the way, has changed. It evolved from the kids on their knee holding a sheep and the longer wool, to where now they’re skinned down to the hide and we stand up and we brace and do a lot of things differently. So each generation has changed and evolved, I think, in the way they’ve shown.”

Tuesday at the fair will also include the horse, pony, rabbit, pet, dairy cattle, breeding beef, and poultry shows, as well as entertainment throughout the day, the 9/11 mobile exhibit, and an Impact Life mobile blood drive from 3-5:30 p.m. KCII continues to broadcast live and provide results during the Washington County Fair as part of the Big Red Radio Summer Town Tour.
