The Kalona City Council approved a partnership with the East Central Iowa Council of Governments Monday.

ECICOG will assist the city council in completing an income survey for the purpose of determining low to moderate income percentage. These surveys will be sent out to residents in Kalona chosen by ECICOG. Kalona City Administrator Ryan Schlabaugh explains the purpose behind the surveys, “Based on that it can open up some funding sources of availability for those low to moderate funds that can help with low interest projects and or forgivable loans and so forth.” 

The City of Kalona has never been eligible for this assistance but the council wanted to see where the city now stands and if they are eligible for this upcoming year.
