Another strong campaign for the Winfield-Mt. Union softball team meant a lot of postseason recognition and six Wolves were recently named to all conference teams by the Southeast Iowa Super Conference North Division.
Madie Anderson was a unanimous first team selection as a pitcher and Jobey Malone was a first team infielder. Anderson has pitched every single win for the Wolves in the last five seasons and this year she capped off her prep career with the third best ERA in Class 1A with 0.58. The senior tossed 157 innings with 305 strikeouts to only 22 walks and had an opponent batting average of .114. Malone cleaned up at the dish with a .446 batting average and 16 runs knocked in. Anna Anderson and Molly Miller were named to the second team. Anna Anderson led the Wolves with a .571 on base percentage, scored 19 times, and brought in 16 more. Miller had a .337 OBP and managed 12 runs. Kayreanna Sharar and Carlee Sloan were recognized as honorable mention. Sharar had a .423 BA and was successful on 10 of 12 stolen base attempts. Sloan registered a .451 OBP and her 23 runs scored led the team.
WMU finished the summer second in the division with a 12-4 league mark and 17-6 overall.
