The Winfield Fire and Rescue Department is ready to celebrate a century of service.
This Saturday Winfield Fire and Rescue will be hosting a celebration event at Twin Lakes Country Club in Winfield. A golf tournament will kick things off at 1 p.m. followed by a bags tournament with prizes being awarded to the winners of both tournaments. Supper will be served later in the evening with ribeye steak sandwiches and hamburgers on the menu. Lee Henry Road is scheduled to provide live music entertainment starting at 7. Winfield Fire and Rescue EMS Captain Chris Gerling gives his thoughts on the department’s 100 years of service, “It’s a nice accomplishment. We got a good group of guys here now, we’ve had a good group of guys and gals in the past. It’s good service and we like providing the service that we do for the community and that’s what we’re all here for is to volunteer and do that.”
