Postseason awards handed out by the South Iowa Cedar League punctuated a successful season for the Sigourney softball team when they had six players named all conference.
Two Savages were named to the first team in Kaylee Weber and Carly Goodwin. As the lone senior, Weber left her mark in the lineup by bringing in the most runs in the conference with 36 RBI and her .500 on base percentage ranked fifth. The fifth year player recorded a .427 average that included four home runs. Goodwin paced the conference with a 0.67 ERA in 157 innings of work. The freshman managed 277 strikeouts to only 51 walks. She also led the league in hits with 55 and her .495 BA ranked second.
Courtney Hemsley and Josephine Moore were named to the second team. Hemsley led the team with 29 runs scored and supported a .378 on base percentage. Moore had 14 extra base knocks in her eighth grade campaign while bringing in 34 tallies. Ava Fisch and Madi Richard rounded out the selections being recognized as honorable mention. Fisch was plated 26 times and hit for a .355 average while Richard registered 24 runs and had a .340 OBP.
The conference champion Savages finished their season 26-9 and qualified for the program’s fifth state tournament.
