Thriving one final time representing the Demons was exactly what Washington’s Trashaun Willis did over the weekend in the Shrine Bowl. 

The graduate started at quarterback in the annual all-star game that feature’s Iowa’s best senior high school football players and he took home MVP honors for the South team. The 6’5’’ Willis orchestrated a game opening drive that was capped off by a touchdown rush from the Demon. The Grand View University commit played every other series at quarterback and his touchdown run was the highlight of a 52-24 loss. The North team was led by Iowa Hawkeye commit Cooper DeJean and his three touchdowns on the day. Willis got to play with future Viking teammate and Keota graduate Brady Duwa and he was coached by former Washington head man James Harris.

The event has raised over $2.7 million in its nearly 50 years of existence for The Shriner’s Hospitals for Children and Willis tells KCII Sports spending time with the kids was the best part of the week. “On Friday we hung out with a few of the kids and got to learn about their stories. It was really inspiring and to see how much money the Shriner’s put towards the hospital is really cool. It was an eye opener to see these kids keep pushing through and I think it really got to everyone.”
