A 20th annual fundraiser being held today is sure to be a hole-in-one for the Washington Fire Department.

Registration slots are filled up for the department’s four-person best-shot golf tournament being held at the Washington Golf and Country Club. Department Secretary/Treasurer and Event Organizer Phil Morris shares what this year’s proceeds are going toward, “Usually we have a specialized project in mind when we have the tournament and it can be anywhere from a thermal imaging camera to parts like last year. I think we had equipment for our new Polaris Ranger that we used for fighting grass fires, and this year we’re earmarking the money towards the new EMS services. Any expenses that are needed to get that up and going we’re raising from the tournament to help fund that new service.”

The city launched its own Emergency Medical Services unit earlier this month that serves as part of the fire department and is the first to respond to assist with medical calls. Morris thanks the community for their continued support of this fundraiser, and the business sponsors for which he says the event would not be possible without their support.
