sigourney-3

The conference champs deserve to have their fair share of postseason awards and that was the case for the Sigourney baseball team cashing in with seven players named all conference by the South Iowa Cedar League.

Four players headlined the selections being named to the first team including catcher Cade Streigle, infielder Josh Mohr, outfielder Cade Molyneux, and utility player Bo Schmidt. Streigle was a force behind the dish with eight runners caught stealing and the junior also raked at the plate with a league leading 32 RBI to go along with his .538 on base percentage. He also led the team with a 2.33 ERA in 36 innings on the mound. Mohr was the lone senior and only committed five errors at shortstop, managed a .596 OBP, and brought in 20 runs. Molyneux showed off his speed being successful on 33 of 36 stolen base attempts, led the team with a .471 average, and was plated 37 times. Schmidt carried a 3.03 ERA in 34 innings on the hill, managed a .382 OBP, and drove in 31 tallies.

Levi Crawford was the lone second team selection as an infielder. The junior recorded a .346 average, scored 33 runs, and stole 20 bags. Jake Moore and Max Phillips rounded out the selections being named honorable mention. Moore had a solid .307 BA in his freshman campaign and Phillips had a .404 on base percentage. Additionally, head coach Lee Crawford was named Coach of the Year in the SICL.

Sigourney won the league with a 13-3 conference slate and 19-6 overall mark.
