The final wave of postseason awards were released this week for the 2021 baseball season with one area class 1A player receiving all state recognition and several others on all district teams.

Sigourney’s Cade Molyneux was the headliner being named second team all state outfielder by the Iowa Print Sports Writers Association. The junior had a monstrous .617 on base percentage to go along with his .471 average, brought in 24 runs, scored 37 times, and stole 33 bags that ranked second in the South Iowa Cedar League. This award followed a first team all Southeast District selection by the Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association. Molyneux was joined by teammates Levi Crawford and Josh Mohr on the first team and second team selection in Cade Streigle. Other area class 1A Southeast District selections included Highland’s Chase Schultz on the first team and Luke Miller on the second team, Lone Tree’s Tyler Bell and Adam Knock on the first team, Keota’s Colten Clarahan and Brady Duwa first team while Carson Sprouse was on the second team, and Winfield-Mt. Union’s Andrew Brown received honorable mention. 

A total of 19 members made up the squad for both first and second team in five different districts.
