After COVID-19 shut out the Kalona Chamber of Commerce’s involvement at the Iowa State Fair last year, they are seeking the public’s help in making a comeback this year.
The chamber is looking for volunteers to help fill a number of different roles at their booth at the Varied Industries Building. Kalona Chamber of Commerce Director Tonia Poole encourages everyone to come out and help with a larger crowd expected at this year’s fair, “It’s usually pretty busy, which we expect even more so this year. That’s kind of been the trend with events that people are ready to get out and they’ve missed out this last year. So events have had larger responses and we’re anticipating that for the fair as well.”
The state fair lasts from August 12th through the 22nd but setup for the booth will begin a few days prior. Different treats, food and merchandise will be available for purchase at the booth from Kalona Noodles, J.K. Woods Jewelry, Wooden Wheel, Kalona Brewery and more. Volunteers also receive free admission to the fair. If you would like to help volunteer or need more information, find the chamber’s contact information here.
