The eighth biggest story in Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk sports from last year takes us inside Tim Grady Gymnasium for Golden Hawk boys basketball. Head coach Daren Lambert and the boys started the year 5-0, just their second five game winning streak since 2010, beating Tipton, Northeast Goose Lake and stopping a 22-game, 11-year losing streak to rival Iowa City Regina. They would go on to sweep the season series from Regina, Tipton, Durant, West Liberty and Wilton, beat Cascade for the first time ever and post 15 wins, their first winning season and highest total since 2010.

In the postseason the Golden Hawks opened with a win over West Liberty, advancing to their 33rd district championship game in school history and first since 2010. Mid-Prairie would lose that contest to state qualifier Camanche by a 67-55 score. The Hawks ended the season with a 15-8 overall record.
