KCII will be participating in the national test of the Emergency Alert System tomorrow.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency in coordination with the Federal Communications Commission will conduct a nationwide test of the EAS and Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA). Both tests will begin at 1:20 p.m. This is the sixth nationwide EAS test that will be sent to radios and televisions, and the WEA portion of the test will be directed only to consumer cell phones where the subscriber has opted in to receive text messages. In case tomorrow’s test is canceled due to widespread severe weather or other significant events, a back-up testing date is scheduled for August 25th.
