The Kalona City Council signed off on the resolution regarding the 5th Street project during their meeting on August 2nd.
By signing off on the resolution, the council accepts and acknowledges that everything was met to their standards so they can release retainage after 30 days. This retainage allows the council to hold back five percent of the project to make sure that the work done holds to those standards. LL Pelling Co. did a mill and overlay on 5th Street from Highway 22 heading north to J Avenue. All man holes were redone with new cement around them to provide extra protection. The final cost came in at around $157,000.
