A bystander sustained serious injuries after being struck by a vehicle in Brighton on Saturday.

Washington County Communications received a report at approximately 9:14 p.m. of a subject at the Brighton Boat Ramp who appeared to have been run over by one or two vehicles that rolled down the boat ramp. Upon arrival, officers observed two vehicles on the river bank with one partially submerged in the water. The subject was found near the vehicles and taken to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics by Air Care. Both vehicles sustained minor damage. Washington County Ambulance, Washington Fire and Rescue, Brighton Fire, Brighton QRS, Washington County Sheriff’s Office and Washington County Conservation assisted at the scene. Washington County Conservation will be handling the investigation.
