Pedestrians can find something new in the dark on the Kewash Nature Trail in Keota.

The Keota Unlimited organization installed glow in the dark rocks to the pavement to help naturally illuminate the trail. From the parking lot at the trailhead to the Washington County Kewash Trail property line, the rocks span approximately 800 feet. Denny Lyle with Keota Unlimited comments on the project’s end result, “We’re really happy with how it turned out. It’s a fun and unique experience to see the stones glowing and the longer that you stand there the brighter that they seem to get. So it’s a lot of fun to look down the length of the trail and just stand and kind of absorb what’s going on there when it’s dark.” 

Lyle later added that all the stones were laid down by hand and that it took five hours to hand wash and brush the pavement on this section of the trail with the help of volunteers. The project was completed on July 5th and is now ready for everyone to visit. Lyle extends a thank you to all the volunteers, local businesses and the City of Keota for assisting in finishing this project.
