The Sigourney School District will start the upcoming school year with a new shared superintendent.
Kevin Hatfield began in the position on July 1st for the Sigourney and Pekin school districts. With over 34 years of experience in education, Hatfield has served as an educator and superintendent for a few different districts, most recently as the West Branch District superintendent for seven years. After coming back to school administration following one year of retirement, Hatfield shares his thoughts on working for the two districts, “This is a little different and it’s got its own challenges but at the same time there’s so many good things and unique things about both districts that are wonderful. And also some very common things between both districts. So that part of it has been exciting but also kind of a really good challenge for me. I’m glad I have some years of experience before taking on as shared superintendent.”
Hatfield says he’s excited to start the year and meet as many people in the districts as possible. Sigourney will kick off their school year on August 25th with Pekin starting the following day on August 26th.
