The 22nd edition of a local fundraising event is happening August 22nd in downtown Washington.

The PAWS & More Central Park Car Show returns for the first time since 2019 this Sunday, with participants encouraged to bring their favorite rides for awards such as “The Cat’s Meow”, “Pick of the Litter,” best motorcycle, and more. Lunch will be provided by the Washington County Pork Producers, and all proceeds will go to PAWS & More. Shelter Director Amber Talbot says this is a unique fundraiser that brings in people who may not take part in their other programming, “Oftentimes we’re hosting events that really pertain to the animals and things like that, and that sometimes create barriers for people if they have allergies, or maybe they want to help but they don’t want to really be hands on with animals, or they can’t adopt or go to an event. This is just a great way that a lot of men and women and families can come and kind of just enjoy the day outside.”

A new addition to the event is that the public is encouraged to bring canned food, toys, or other items from the shelter’s wish list which you can find on their website to fill their recently purchased van. Registration is from 8-11 a.m. with lunch served from 11:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m., and awards given at 3 p.m. In case of rain, the event will be held on September 12th.
