The 2021-2022 school year begins Monday for most schools across the KCII Radio-listening area.

Washington, Highland, Mid-Prairie, Hillcrest Academy, Columbus, WACO, and Winfield-Mt. Union schools all open their doors to students Monday. The Keota School District has its first day on Wednesday, August 25th. As the COVID-19 pandemic continues, all school districts were required to release their Return to Learn plan prior to the school year, and families are recommended to read that plan on their respective district website to ensure they’re aware of the health and safety precautions being taken. A change from last year is that Iowa schools are not able to enact mask mandates, as Governor Kim Reynolds passed a law banning these from schools and local governments this last spring.
