As you head out on the road to take advantage of the last moments of summer, the Iowa State Patrol advises to buckle up and follow other traffic laws to avoid wrecking your weekend getaway.
ISP District 13 Public Resource Officer Jason Marlow says troopers will be increasing enforcement today addressing impaired drivers throughout southeast Iowa. This will serve as a part of ongoing efforts to lower Iowa’s traffic fatalities. The hopes are to end the year with less than 300 deaths. As of August 19th, Iowa has seen 197 traffic fatalities with 45% of those being unbelted. The amount of travelers is expected to be high this weekend with the state fair and last-minute vacations so make sure to buckle up and drive safely.
