Another volleyball season is upon us and on the opening day of the 2021 campaign the WACO volleyball team will host seven schools for a tournament.
Area teams Columbus Community and Sigourney will join the Warriors on the court in Wayland. WACO will try to reload this fall after a 2020 record of 26-8, but they bring back just two players with varsity experience. Steven Sattz takes over head coaching duties for the Savages and they will try to improve off of a 7-17 season where they lost three players to graduation. The Wildcats were 12-14 last year and need to replace their leader in kills, assists, and digs. Other teams that will be competing include Centerville, Pekin, Van Buren, West Burlington, and Wapello.
The tournament gets underway at 5 p.m. this evening at WACO High School.
