The City of Wayland is moving on to the second round of the Iowa League of Cities People’s All-Star Community Awards competition.

Members of the Iowa League of Cities submitted community projects that were completed in 2020 to face off against each other in a bracket style competition. Each entry was posted on the league’s Facebook page where members of the public can “like” the post of the project they want to move on to the next round. Voting for the first round closed Monday, where Wayland’s West Park Wetlands faced off against Washington’s City Hall-Police Building project. Wayland surpassed with 100 more likes and now faces off against the City of Stanton’s Residential and Building Benefits Package.

Voting for the second round is open until August 30th. The eventual winner will be recognized at the league’s 2021 annual conference and exhibit. To vote for your favorite community project visit here.
