Those with an immune compromised health condition may now schedule a COVID-19 booster shot through Washington County Public Health.

Public Health will be hosting their first boost clinic on Wednesday, September 1st from 1-6 p.m. at their office located in the Federation Bank building. You must receive the same brand booster as your first and second doses, and Moderna is the only vaccine available at this clinic. Interim Washington County Public Health Administrator Chris Estle shares who this booster shot is open to, “Right now it’s the population that has underlying health issues, so you’re undergoing cancer treatment, you’re immunocompromised with an underlying health condition, maybe you’ve had an organ transplant, or you’re on the list for an organ transplant.”

All individuals requesting boosters must have received their second vaccine at least 28 days prior. These shots are by appointment only through public health’s website, and individuals are asked to bring their vaccine card showing first and second doses with them to their appointment. Estle anticipates that the booster shot will be made available to the general public by mid September.
