A Fairfield athlete is competing in his third straight Paralympic games in Tokyo.

After the 2020 Paralympics were postponed a year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, 38 year-old Matt Stutzman is set to compete in the men’s archery individual compound. The “Armless Archer” has  won medals in many competitions throughout the world including the 2015 Para Pan American Games, 2015 World Archery Para Championships, 2019 World Archery Para Championships and London 2012 and Rio 2016 Paralympics. The silver medalist will be looking to take home the gold after a disappointing outing in 2016 where he fell one point short of making it out of the elimination round of the men’s individual compound open

Open competition will begin tomorrow at 2 p.m. with eliminations beginning the following day. The finals and medal ceremony takes place August 31st.
