Iowa State University Extension and Outreach is inviting farmers, farmer advisors, and the general public to the Southeast Research and Demonstration Farm for their 2021 Fall Field Day.

This year’s event takes place Thursday, September 9th beginning at 1:30 p.m. at the research and demonstration farm in Crawfordsville. ISU specialists and experts will cover four main topics to inform those in the community about current research and strategies being used for farm production. This year’s topics will feature research farm and association updates, utilizing tile drainage to increase productivity, corn rootworm management strategies and demonstration, and integrated weed management strategies in soybeans. Extension Field Agronomist Rebecca Vittetoe encourages everyone to come to the farm and get to know the work being done and the people involved, “ I think it’s a great way to network and see people and then also visit with some of the folks that are doing the research. And being able to have that one on one and that connection and have that ability to ask questions and get a direct answer back from the speakers. And then it’s also a great way to see some different things. Maybe learn something new that folks can take home and maybe implement on their own farms as well.”

With last year’s fall field day cancelled due to COVID-19, Vittetoe added that she is excited to have an in-person event and see people back at the farm. Registration begins at 1 p.m. with the event beginning at 1:30 p.m., and is free for anyone to join.
