Residents 12 and older can get the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine that has been fully approved for those 16 and older at mobile clinics happening this week and next in Washington County.
Rural Health & Safety of Eastern Iowa is sponsoring mobile vaccination clinics happening Thursday from 5-7 p.m=. at the Washington Farmers Market and Monday, September 13th from 4-7 p.m. on the east end of B Avenue between 6th and 7th streets in Kalona. Rural Health & Safety of Eastern Iowa Cofounder Roger Stutsman says they’ve been sponsoring vaccine and COVID-19 testing clinics over the last couple years to try to prevent senseless deaths like his son Michael’s fatal farming incident that inspired the organization, “We have a granddaughter who is 13 and she has compromised lungs and we were just extremely nervous until she could get her shots and it was like the world had opened up to us again and now it’s kind of closed down again. There’s so much COVID out there, and every time I turn around there’s somebody I know that has died in the last week from COVID and this doesn’t make any sense.”
Stutsman adds that getting vaccinated is about community and caring about others as well as yourself. These vaccine clinics are free for the public with no appointment needed.
